PSEG Keys Energy Center: Construction Status Update (As Of March 1, 2016)
Activities at the plant site on North Keys Road include the removal of the surcharge pile, preparation of the new PEPCO switchyard area and construction lay-down areas, and installation of underground piping and electrical conduits. In early March, installation of the plant water and sewer underground piping will begin, from the tie-in point adjacent to Old Indian Head Road, across the craft parking lot, and then onto the main plant site. The temporary craft parking lot then will be made ready for use. Installation of temporary electrical service for construction by SMECO will be completed, as well.
Preparations for construction of the underground, eight-mile-long gas line from Woodville Road in Charles County to the PSEG Keys Energy Center on North Keys Road in Prince George’s County continues, with tree removal and installation of environmental protection controls completed from the plant site south to the Charles County line. Work in Charles County is expected to begin around March 14. The gas line piping has been delivered to the preparation area off Bevard Road.
